The detailed stone carving on the Cathedral of Siguenza facade is a symbol that can be seen all over Spain. The hat, called a galero, was originally a pilgrim's hat. Later in the 13th century the galero was adopted by cardinals and so by the 16th century the galero became a Catholic symbol.
